Stay Active with These Easy At-Home Workout Ideas

Thank you so much to Adidas for sponsoring this post!

Staying home/indoors doesn’t mean that we have to skip our workouts.  You also don’t have to do a complex or difficult workout to be active at home.  I used to be one of those people that couldn’t really be active unless I was in the gym.  Changing that mindset is definitely one of the best things you can do to stick to your fitness goals during this time.

In my post 4 Easy Ways to Fight Anxiety While Staying at Home, I shared that I recently had to establish effective ways to stay active indoors.  It wasn’t easy at first, but having a solid at-home workout plan made a world of difference in how I felt each day.  There are a few routines that I’ve been doing during the week focused on toning and managing body fat.

One of my favorite routines to do has been my routine for back and arms.  If you have the same fitness goals or just want to stay active in general, give it a try!  All of the exercises can be done with a pair of dumbbells or with your own body weight.

Back and Arms Toning Workout

When I’m doing this workout at home, I love to use a set of lightweight dumbbells and go slow to focus on the movements. A good rule of thumb I use when doing circuits is that if you’re not at least feeling the burn by the end of the second round, add an extra round to the circuit with a little more reps than before.  (If you’re not sure what an exercise is, make sure to search the move on YouTube)

Curls   12 each arm
Front Raises   15 each arm
Bent Over Rows   10
Oblique Raises   10 each side
Elbow Plank   30 secs
Side Plank   30 secs each side
Repeat this circuit 3 times!!**

Other Options

In addition to the above routine, my other favorite options for indoor fitness are yoga and lower body exercises with ankle weights.  Remember, staying active doesn’t have to be complex and you can still keep yourself upbeat with effective workouts indoors.  What have you been doing to stay active indoors?
