Have you ever had an encounter with bed bugs? Whether you answered yes or no, do you know the steps to remove a bed bug infestation? I personally have never had an experience with bed bugs, but there are still actions that are always smart for us to take, for example, when we move into a new apartment to ensure that things stay that way. And these actions are not complicated or pricey!

Treat bed bugs with Hot Shot bed bug killer spray and fogger

Keeping products like the Hot Shot® Bed Bug & Flea Killer Fogger and Hot Shot® Bed Bug Killer Aerosol Spray on hand makes the process much simpler than you think. I’m going to share with you just how to treat bed bugs in your space, how to treat the area if you have an encounter and where to buy these products that you need. As always, let’s cover some basics first.

Where Do Bed Bugs Come From?

It’s important to understand that you DO NOT get bed bugs because your house is dirty. This is a common misconception, but the truth is you can track bed bugs into your home just by coming into contact with them. This can happen in SO many ways, but just to name a few:

  • Sleeping in a hotel room that has had an infestation
  • Chance of bed bugs latching onto your luggage while traveling
  • Not thoroughly inspecting secondhand furniture, clothes, etc. before bringing them into your home

And those are just a few ways that an infestation can occur. Crazy, right? Once in, they are very hard to detect and often take refuge in your bed/other furniture until nighttime when they come out to eat. So how do you try your best to treat this?

Using Hot Shot® Bed Bug Killer Aerosol Spray to Treat Bed Bugs

How to treat bed bugs in general is a very broad topic, but we’re going to discuss in particular the things that I do when moving into a new short-term rental to take away lots of the guesswork for you if you’re in the same situation. In addition to having a mattress cover and making sure that there are no distinctive wall cracks present, the Hot Shot® Bed Bug Killer Aerosol Spray comes in very handy to go the extra mile. I simply spray around the wall baseboards, into any size cracks that I detect, and into any crevices that may be in my bed frame.

You want to make sure that you spray these areas until damp, not less than 3 seconds — but do not saturate. It’s very easy to use since it is a hand-held aerosol insecticide spray that is actually designed for the treatment of bed bugs and bed bug eggs in areas such as cracks and crevices in bed frames and box springs. I especially love that this spray is non-staining and has no unpleasant odor. Complete win!

How to Use Hot Shot® Bed Bug Killers When Bed Bugs are Present

If you detect signs of bed bugs in your home, the Hot Shot® bed bug spray and bed bug fogger products can definitely be used to your advantage. If you are using the bed bug spray to treat the infestation, spray in the targeted areas. After, be sure to inspect and apply every two weeks while the bed bugs are present. The bed bug fogger is another great option to combat your infestation. This is a total release insecticide fogger that kills bed bugs, fleas, lice, ticks and other listed insects. It is perfect for use in many settings including apartments, attics, basements, condominiums, cabins, etc., and what’s even more useful is that one can treats up to 2,000 cubic feet of unobstructed space.
