Show You Some Love: 4 Things to Do on Valentine’s Day If You’re Single

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner!  Do you think of Valentine’s Day as this huge all-out celebration or just another day where you show a little loving gesture to your significant other?  What if you don’t have a significant other or are just spending it alone this year?  Seeing that 73% of people answered “Single” when I took an Instagram poll on Valentine’s Day relationship status this year, I decided to do a little helpful “idea” post!

There’s this common misconception that Valentine’s Day is just for couples and I want you to know that that’s not true, especially if you’re having a hard time coping this year.  More and more people are becoming aware of this. In fact, in 2005, February 15 was labeled to be Singles Awareness Day. Some celebrate being alone then and some just celebrate the love in their lives on February 14, which is personally what I do whether I’m single or not.

How Can I Celebrate Valentine’s Day This Year if I’m Single?

There are plenty of ways to still celebrate Valentine’s Day even if you’re single.  You love yourself, right? You love your friends/family, right? Your parents? Well, that’s more than enough!  There’s no need for pressure. You can literally spend this day however you like. I’m going to share with you four simple things that you can do to put a little spice in your Valentine’s Day this year.

Have a relaxing evening

It may sound like a simple idea, but this is a perfect way to treat yourself.  When was the last time you came home from work, soaked in a hot bath, and cozied up in your favorite slippers and robe to binge watch Netflix?  Or (if you’re like me) read a good book? I mentioned before in my article How I Avoid Burnout + What Does Burnout Even Mean? that doing absolutely nothing for an evening is my jam.  Any chance that you get to have a quiet evening to turn your thinking cap off, you don’t pass that up!

Invite Your Friends Over or Go Out

Call your friends over for a girls’ night or go out on the town with them!  I know you’ve heard of Galentine’s Day. Go out and celebrate the love with your girlfriends.

Take Yourself to a Movie

I personally haven’t mastered the art of taking myself out to eat without feeling a little awkward, but another great option is to treat yourself to a movie.  What’s in theaters or coming out soon that you would love to see? Make it a big deal. Get excited about the movie and order your tickets early so that you can skip the line, grab your popcorn, and prepare for the show!

Treat Yourself

Outfit Details:
Sweatshirt, leggings, sunglasses

You know that outfit or other item you’ve been eyeing for a while?  This is a good day to go ahead and treat yourself to just that. I’m personally eyeing some items from J. Crew and Nordstrom I’ve been wanting!

How do you plan on spending your Valentine’s Day this year?
