My Microblading Experience: What You Should Know

How many times have you been beyond frustrated after shading your brows in wrong or uneven?  Ever wished you could just wake up with them already done?  If you’re anything like me, you answered yes to both questions!  One of the most tedious parts of my makeup routine was my brows and if they aligned perfectly, that was a major win.  I started looking into microblading last year and finally said why not?  My only regret: not getting it sooner!  If you’ve been considering microblading, let me make your decision-making process a little easier.

With any procedure, you want to make sure you know exactly what you’re getting into. I wanted to make sure I wrote this post in addition to my Instagram highlights to share an in-depth review of my experience along with a few facts; hopefully it helps!

What is Microblading?

Microblading is defined as a semipermanent technique for enhancing the appearance of the eyebrows, in which pigment is scratched into the skin in fine, short strokes resembling hair, using a hand tool with a blade formed of tiny needles.  The procedure is meant to last 12-18 months, depending on your skin type.  If you have oily skin, you’ll need a yearly touch up before someone with normal to dry skin.

My Microblading Experience with Tinted Beauty LLC

When you finally decide to go for it, then it’s time to find the location.  Tinted Beauty LLC has been in the business for six years, which was an instant plus for me. I fell in love with their work and reviews from other clients on their Instagram page.  The genuine connection between them and their clients was also a plus because quality is important, but we all know that great customer service is just as important especially when it comes to services like these!

Getting right into the experience, it was very easy to set an appointment with Tinted Beauty.  I received instructions beforehand to wait in the car upon arrival until it was time to come in.  I want to put a little disclaimer out that we are still performing covid safety measures in Dallas so this experience is a reflection of that; you won’t have to wait in the car at all times!  When I came in, I met with Juanita and discussed the type of look I wanted to go for.  We decided on the microblading + shading combination since I already have a good amount of natural brow hair and I love the “just shaded in my brows” look.

Next, she put the numbing cream on my brows and I waited in the car for 30 minutes (temporary safety measure again) until it was time to start the procedure.  First, we did an outline to decide on the final look.  Then, we chose the pigment color for the shade (I chose the color Espresso).  I was waiting for the microblading pain when the process started, but it never came.  I felt a slight scratching sensation but that was it.  The shading was similar; it just felt like someone was poking my brows.  Complete relief!!  The entire microblading + shading process took about an hour and 15 minutes including the choosing of the outline + pigment.

Microblading Aftercare and Healing Process

I received an aftercare kit containing an antibacterial solution, healing ointment and instructions. The brows have to be cleaned every hour on the first day and after that, they have to be cleaned three times a day for the next six days. To clean the brows, I dipped a clean Q-tip in a bottle of water with the antibacterial solution mixed in and cleaned them thoroughly. It was the easiest for me to pat them dry with a cotton ball.  Then, I used another Q-tip to apply the healing ointment.  My brows were slightly sensitive on the first day but there was no sensitivity after.

You should to avoid the following for ten days following your microblading procedure if possible:

  • Excessive UV radiation
  • Prolonged contact with water (no swimming)
  • Using a sauna or sunbed (no tanning)
  • Picking or scratching at your brows (I made a mistake and did this in my sleep the first night and girl, don’t do it!  It hurts!!)
  • Sleeping on stomach/face
  • Eyebrow makeup or facials
  • Botox
  • No use of skin care products unless agreed upon with your beautician

The brows go through multiple stages during the healing process but the good news is, a follow-up appointment happens in 6 weeks after they’re fully healed.  Then, you’re able to go over everything with your technician, including if you want them to be darker, lighter, etc.

Summary: Does Microblading Work?

So, is microblading worth it? Overall, I’m obsessed with my brows and the microblading experience.  I cannot brag about Juanita enough!  She was so sweet and answered all of my questions.  The microblading + shading combination that I received currently costs $400 with a follow up cost of $100.  They also have deals every so often.

If you’re in the DFW area, give them a visit!  In addition to microblading, they perform other permanent/semi-permanent services like lip blush (tint that lasts longer than 24 hour lipstick), eyeliner, and even fibroblast treatments (skin tightening or smoothing out wrinkles without injectables).  And if you do stop by, make sure to tell them True sent you!

Your brows came out so well. I am a blond that has no brows until I work on them every day. I know i would be a good candidate but then i have to avoid botox, hmmm.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience and providing so much wonderful information! I have been curious about this for awhile now, due to health conditions my poor eyebrows are almost nonexistent but I’ve been a little too nervous to do something like this. Your post definitely helped answer a lot of the things I’ve been wondering.
