An Honest Review of the Nori Press from Someone Who Doesn’t Iron

There are two types of people: those that stand beside the iron + ironing board combo and those of us that would rather not. As a millennial, my college days consisted of throwing our clothes in the dryer to “iron” while we got ready for class. After college, I graduated to my faithful handheld steamer from Amazon for a more serious method.

But sometimes, the steamer just doesn’t get the job done. So when I heard about the viral Nori Press Steam Iron that can serve as an iron, steamer, or both…needless to say, I was intrigued and had to try it!

What is the Nori Press?

The Nori Press has been getting a ton of buzz on my feed lately! It is marketed as a steam iron that requires no ironing board. I was almost sold instantly from that alone! The Nori Press carries the convenience of cutting traditional ironing time in half with two heated plates that simultaneously iron both sides of the garment. The steam iron has 6 fabric specific heat settings: poly, silk, wool, cotton, denim and linen, making it extremely versatile as a lightweight, handheld tool.

My Experience with the Nori Press

To be honest, I was skeptical about the Nori Press wondering if it would take longer to use than my simple steamer. I was pleasantly surprised at first sight. The steam iron is much bigger than it appears online and the elongated arms really allow for a great reach.

I grabbed the wrinkliest shirt that I could find to steam iron it while hanging since that is how I normally steam. Noted, you can iron with the garment hanging or laying flat, another versatility point.

The tool is very simple! It is clear without instructions where the water tank for steam is located and how to select the fabric setting. After the first swipe, I knew that it was a keeper. I love how sturdy the iron is, allowing for much more control than my steamer. It only took a few minutes to iron the top and just like that, I had a new travel buddy.

Is the Nori Press Safe?

My handheld steamer has a safety feature that automatically turns the steamer off after a few minutes of inactivity. The Nori Press also has built-in sensors to automatically shut off after 10 minutes of no movement. The swivel cord was also useful as there were no worries about it getting in the way during ironing. And even though it did a great job, the iron never became “too hot” for comfort.

Is the Nori Press Steam Iron Worth It?

The Nori Press is normally priced at $120. At the time of this article, the press is currently on sale for $90, 25% off. I would say the Nori is a good buy for a few reasons. In comparison to the steamer, the Nori Press offers many more options with being able to use the tool as an iron alone as well as the ability to choose specific fabric settings. As mentioned, the control that you have with the Nori is amazing. I could reach parts of the garment that I would not have easily been able to with the steamer.

Nori Press Before and After

Another thing that impressed me was the finish; the top literally looked and felt as if it came from the dry cleaners. No need to immediately chuck your steamer because it is honestly a game changer to have both! I’m still reaching for my steamer if I’m short on time or have a garment doesn’t have many wrinkles. But overall, the Nori press gets a thumbs up!
