Let’s talk Milani!

I was in Ulta this weekend when I came across this palette on display. When you see shimmers…you just have to stop! I also stopped in my tracks because I saw that this palette was from Milani! I’ve never seen Milani go THIS BOLD with their eyeshadow palettes.

I decided to grab it and do a little review for you guys!

Description

Milani’s Gilded Noir Palette comes with 16 shades. On Ulta’s website, they’re described as 16 noir-inspired, hyper-pigmented eye shadows that are sure to elevate your P.M. game. They’re said to be can’t-stop touching, ultra blendable textures in dark dimensional shades, buttery metallics, and unexpected pops of color. The palette includes 1 duo chromatic, 2 pearl metallics, 4 pearl, 3 matte metallics, 1 satin, 1 soft metallic, and 4 matte.

Review

I couldn’t stop touching the packaging when I took the palette out of the bag. You have to feel it yourself to know what I mean so do that before saying that’s weird, okay! The spikes of color on the packaging are actually textured. I thought that that was very cool and it actually increased my curiosity even more.

When I opened the palette, I immediately spotted my two favorite colors, Rococo and Gasp. Let me just say that Milani did it with these two! The pigment is insane and the quality was mind-blowing. When I swiped my finger in both, I had LOTS of product on my fingers that did not just rub away (another promising first impression). Okay, Milani!

I used the Rococo that I absolutely loved and incorporated it with the ‘No Pictures’ shade to achieve a “sunset” look.

5 hours later!

As I was applying, I noticed that it was difficult to get the shades Bubbly and Enticing to show up on my skin as my natural transition colors. I used about four layers before I got a faint shade and decided to move on with No Pictures. I only needed two layers of this one to get enough payoff to start blending my look.

I added a little bit of Lust on top of No Pictures. They blended so nicely together into the deep, rich red-pink shade I was going for. Then I added Rococo! You HAVE TO apply this on your lid with your finger or it won’t be as popping as it comes off on your swatch.

Verdict

Overall, I am impressed with the new Milani palette. I think that it, along with the new Gilded Rouge palette, was something a little different for them and they showed up. The metallics in the palette do their job by giving that shimmery pop of color that is promised. The darker mattes were very satisfying as well since they blended perfectly for me. I loved that it was not a dry formula. I didn’t have to build up for days to get a decent color payoff that would stay for hours.

I will definitely reach for this one for the metallic mattes when I want that *pop*, which is often. I personally don’t think that I will be choosing this one for my natural transition colors. As mentioned before, I just couldn’t get results from Bubbly or Entitled for my skin tone.

Let’s chat! Let me know in the comments if you have or plan on trying Milani’s new palettes! If you have, how did you like it?
