The Best Beauty Products to Add in Spring for Your Best Summer Skin

How soon is too soon to start shopping for Summer skincare and beauty items? I wish that I was prepared last year because I was definitely scrambling for solutions once the temperatures increased! It’s best to start adding summer beauty products into your routine in Spring (especially if your climate is similar to here in Texas) to prep your skin for the season transition.

I wear much less makeup during the summer and focus on maintaining a daily skin care routine for glowing skin. This most recent Sephora haul was small but full of good items that are great to grab right now. I’ll tell you why I’m already loving all of them except for the one that I unfortunately had to return!

Lawless Forget the Filler Lip Gloss

I’ve been seeing great reviews for this lip plumper, exact name Lawless Forget the Filler Lip Plumper Line Smoothing Gloss. I finally decided to see for myself and purchased the shade Nudie. My initial review was that I can understand the hype! I love the applicator and you can see from the swatch that the gloss isn’t thin at all which is great for a lip plumping gloss but it still managed to not be too thick and sticky. I’ve worn it once so far and I’m eager to buy more colors, although some reviews have stated that the plumping effect doesn’t last as long after your first couple of wears. I will definitely find out!

Sol de Janeiro Rio Radiance SPF 50 Body Spray Sunscreen with Niacinamide

Image: Sephora

My go-to sunscreen that I have used for years is the Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen because it leaves no residue or cast and has no smell whatsoever. However, when I read that the Sol de Janeiro sunscreen spray “leaves a gorgeous, natural sheen” on the skin, I had to try it! It is a little sticky but not unbearable. The only thing that I will mention is if you are sensitive to smells even a little bit, you may want to skip this one because while the smell is very nice, it is pretty strong!

Glossier Solution Skin-Perfecting Daily Chemical Exfoliator

I have to do a full review on this Glossier exfoliating skin perfector. Truthfully, I purchased it on a whim prior to hearing anything about it but I’m not kidding…after one use, I noticed a difference in my skin!

According to Sephora, a clinical study noted that there were reports of the skin feeling cleaner and softer immediately after 24 hours of use. The study examined 60 people between the ages of 14 and 40 over 2 weeks of use so I will be conducting my own and bring the results here! But so far, I love this and have been using it daily. My skin has been noticeably brighter and smoother under my makeup. The exfoliator also has no notable smell and hasn’t irritated my sensitive skin at all.

The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% Oil Control Serum

Image: Sephora

Niacinamide is a form of vitamin B3 that provides numerous health benefits; the synthetic form of niacinamide is what is used in moisturizers, serums and other skin care products. This article goes into some interesting detail on the exact benefits and side effects of niacinamide but just to name a few, it can brighten the skin, minimize pores, treat skin inflammation and more! Where it ranks as the best niacinamide serum, I love that The Ordinary offers this one for under $10 while also mixing the niacinamide with 1% zinc to further target dullness, uneven texture and excess oil. Using this in a serum combo with my hyaluronic acid has worked wonders!

Laneige Mini Lip Glowy Balm

*Set no longer available, linked individual balms* I was so excited to try these. My short and sweet Laneige lip glowy balm review is that I love them! The scents included in this limited edition set are Vanilla, Sweet Candy, Berry and Gummy Bear. They smell AMAZING, Gummy Bear is definitely my favorite! The swatches are exactly as they appear on the lips and a little does go a long way. I’ve worn each scent to work since purchasing and only had to reapply once. Keep in mind that these are pretty tiny, but they are a good size to keep in your bag on the go.

Topicals Faded Brightening & Cleansing Body Bar

The uneven skin tone and dark spots on my legs inspired me to research affordable solutions and I came across the Topicals Faded bars. Of all the Topicals Faded ingredients, I was familiar with all except the kojic acid which is noted to visibly reduce hyperpigmentation for skin to look more even toned. In case you were curious as well, kojic acid is actually a chemical produced from different types of fungi and is primarily used in skincare to inhibit melanin production which inevitably lightens dark spots and brightens the skin. Another important piece of information that I came across is that while kojic acid is safe to use everyday, it is not advised to use this chemical for more than three months at at time as it can be damaging to the skin.

The Topicals Faded bar itself is fragrance free, great for sensitive skin. I’ve only used it a few times since purchasing and have seen a slight improvement on my worst dark spots. The current price is $28 for two bars which is reasonable enough, however, I will say to be smart with how you use it because the size noticeably shrinks with each use. Overall, I’m very excited about them and will continue to use. I also might even grab the Topicals Faded serum to combine with them!

Sol de Janeiro Delicia Drench Jet Set

Image: Sephora

I love a good shower oil and I could not wait to try the Sol de Janeiro Delicia Drench shower oil. I was so excited that I tried the shower oil on the first night that my package arrived and unfortunately returned the set immediately.

I am not sensitive to all scents but extremely sensitive to some and this one just did not agree with my allergies. It is a very strong scent, I even think that it would have been too strong alone without being coupled with the body butter. I love the Sol de Janeiro brand but I skipped on this set. However, if you’re not sensitive to smells you will love the way it makes your skin feel!
